Festive Concert
Christmas time means many things to us. Candy canes, Christmas trees, presents exchanged, warm and cheerful parties, maybe some snow……
For us at the Brantford Symphony, above all it means Christmas and happy seasonal music. And we bring it to you all packaged in one special night, when we search out and present a program filled with your favourite tunes, carefully considered, wonderfully arranged, and expertly performed! Sleigh Ride, White Christmas, Adeste Fideles, Carol of the Bells, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and much, much more will keep you smiling and your toes tapping!
Adding to the entertainment are our special Guest Artists, Strata Vocal Ensemble from Hamilton. Strata is a Chamber Choir dedicated to, and known for its precision, polish, and innovative programming, conducted by our very own Maestro, Philip Sarabura. As well as presenting some
selections on their own and with the orchestra, the Choir will happily lead you through the annual Sing-Along. Clear your throats!
The Brantford Symphony and Maestro Sarabura have been delighting enthusiastic Christmas audiences for many years, and they’re really good at it. Come see for yourself!

Music Is Vibration!
April 27 2025 at 3 p.m.
MacNeill Baptist Church, 1145 King Street West, Hamilton
It’s our anniversary! Join us as we celebrate twenty years of making music together. Our program features Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass, a gorgeous work for choir and string ensemble in which the composer set the traditional Latin texts of the Mass but gave each section an English title relating to the natural world (The Spheres, Sunrise, The City, Identity, and The Ground). Says Gjeilo, “I wanted the musical development of the work to evolve from the most transparent and spacey, to something completely earthy and grounded; from nebulous and pristine to more emotional and dramatic, and eventually warm and solid—as a metaphor for human development from child to adult, or as a spiritual journey.”
Also on the program are such gems as Rutter’s “Choral Fanfare,” Mozart’s “Ave Verum,” Byrd’s “Sing Joyfully,” and Randall Thompson’s “Alleluia,” as well as contemporary works by Ēriks Ešenvalds, Randall Stroope, and Morten Lauridsen. We are excited to include Canadian composer Andrew Balfour’s recent “Music is Vibration.” Our program concludes the way we opened our first concert twenty years ago, with a tried-and true favourite by Thomas Tallis.
Come to a celebratory afternoon that’s sure to send you home with music in your heart.
